ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT. We explored the association between the J wave on standard
ECG leads and indices of repolarization heterogeneity possibly associated
with an arrhythmogenic substrate. We found significant associations in fe-
males between the presence of a J wave above 0.05mV and the similarity
index, the early deviation index and the correlations between the QRS in-
tegral and the orthogonal components of repolarization, and an association
with the early repolarization deviation index in males. Taking the presence
of the J wave into account could lead to improved arrhythmic prediction
for already proposed indices and also contribute to the clarification of the
mechanism of their association with arrhythmogenic substrates.
